Lindsey's trip to visit me in Bali: March 2010

I had been living in Bali teaching at an international school and had not had a visitor come to see me. I remember being so fired up to have Lindsey make the journey across the ocean to experience Bali with me. With Lindsey coming to visit, I knew I was guaranteed a few things. First, Lindsey always had a genuine interest into what I was doing. I looked forward to having some great talks with a great friend. Second, we would definitely experience some sort of adventure, especially being in a place like Bali., with an individual like Lindsey. Third, we would party, enough said. Last, we would laugh the type of laughter that comes straight from the gut, that kind of uncontrollable laughter that doesn't allow you to stop. We would talk about the past, the present, and what lies ahead. We took off for a trip to the eastern and northerly part of the island. We were heading up a windy mountain road on my motorbike, with Lindsey putting all her trust in me to drive safe. The scenery was beautiful, like something out of a movie. Rice patties surrounding us and dense jungle vegetation all around. I remember thinking how great it was to be riding with Lindsey at that moment in time. Sure enough it starts raining, we pulled over to cover up our belongings with the little water proofing we had, a plastic bag, and my raincoat to cover our bags. We continued on, and it really started coming down with the tropics giving us all it had. I remember shouting back to Lindsey, "Should we pull over? " and she replied back, “NO, JUST KEEP GOING!!!" and we both broke into laughter. We made it safely to our next destination, soaking wet, but feeling alive and happy. That was a special trip for me, as Lindsey and I had always been buddies, but mostly in social situations with others around. This was our first time spending time with one another outside the Bay Area. I'll never forget that vivid moment in time and will always be grateful for Lindsey coming to Bali. Your laugh, your smile and genuine care for friends will always be with me. Thank you LQ. Jett Russell
